 Salt vs. Sugar Scrubs:
 1. Exfoliation - When regular salt is used, alone, as an exfoliate, it can be harsh and cause microscopic tears in the skin which is an open invitation for bacteria (not to mention stinging and pain). Demerara is a gentle, humectant exfoliate, which means it draws moisture into the skin, rather than drying it out. It gently removes dead skin, revealing glowing, beautiful, baby soft skin.
2. Moisturizing - Demerara Sugar hydrates skin from the outside in. For the face, neck and other private and sensitive areas, Demerara Sugar brings moisture below the skin’s surface allowing it to “plump” naturally.
 
3. It’s Glycolic Acid (Alpha Hydroxy Acid or AHA), is important for encouraging cell turnover and promoting new growth to reveal the baby skin underneath. In many skincare products, adding Glycolic Acid can be harsh for the skin. Since sugar is a natural source of the acid, the skin can reap all of its wonderful properties without any of the harshness.
 
In addition to the Demerara Sugar, our Sugar Scrubs are rounded out with a high percentage of organic African Shea Body Butter. Once the humectant properties of the sugar allow outside moisture (air, water) into the skin, the Shea Body seals it in place and is allowed to do its own healing work.
